Average Daily Traffic and toll revenue on motorway Katowice-Kraków in 2021Q1

Aktualności EN 10 May 2021

In 2021Q1 the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) on the concession section of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway amounted to 34,038 vehicles and was lower by 9.8% than the traffic level recorded  in 2020Q1 (37,718 vehicles). In 2021Q1 toll revenue amounted to PLN 72,058 thousand and was slightly lower by 0.1% than in 2020Q1 (PLN 72,146 thousand).

As far as cars are concerned, the ADT decreased from 30,977 vehicles in 2020Q1 to 26,881 vehicles in 2021Q1 (13.2% decrease). In 2021Q1 toll revenue from cars amounted to PLN 41,944 thousand and was lower by 2.8% than in 2020Q1 (PLN 43,174 thousand). Difference between dynamics of toll revenue changes as compared to dynamics of ADT changes is due to the change in the toll rate from October 1, 2020 (from PLN 10 to PLN 12 for the regular rate and from PLN 7 to PLN 8 for the preferential rate).

As far as trucks are concerned, the ADT increased by 6.2%, i.e. from 6,740 vehicles in 2020Q1 to 7,157 vehicles in 2021Q1, while toll revenue from trucks in 2021Q1 amounted to PLN 30,114 thousand and was higher by 3.9% than in 2020Q1 (PLN 28,972 thousand). Difference between dynamics of toll revenue changes as compared to dynamics of ADT changes is due to the changes in the vehicle category structure (depending on the category, different toll rates are applied).

The observed in 2021Q1 compared to 2020Q1 decreases in traffic for cars are a consequence of restrictions being introduced at the turn of 2020Q1/2020Q2 and then maintained to some extent by state institutions and bodies, related to social and economic activity, due to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and the number of COVID-19 cases. More information about impact of SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 on the activity of Group can be found in Company's special weekly current reports.
