Good financial results of the Stalexport Autostrady Capital Group in Q1 2022

Press Releases 9 May 2022

For the Stalexport Autostrady Capital Group, Q1 2022 was marked by an increase in key performance indicators. As traffic intensity on the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway increased, the Group recorded both higher revenue and net profit.

As the situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic normalized in Q1 2022, the average traffic intensity on the Katowice-Kraków motorway grew by 27.9 percent compared to Q1 2021 and amounted to 43.5 thous. vehicles per day. A significant increase is particularly visible in the case of passenger cars - they recorded change by 32.4 percent.

As the traffic level increased, revenue generated by the Stalexport Autostrady Capital Group amounted to approx. PLN 91.2 million in Q1 of this year, which represents growth by nearly 25 percent compared to the level from last year. This result was affected by the exemption of vehicles with Ukrainian registration numbers and vehicles providing humanitarian aid for Ukraine from toll rates as well as changes in toll rates starting from 1 October 2021: reduction of discount for category 2 and 3 vehicles from PLN 15 to PLN 13; elimination of preferential rates for automatic payments for category 2, 3, 4 and 5 vehicles, and change of preferential rate for category 1 vehicles from PLN 8 to PLN 9.

EBITDA of the Stalexport Autostrady Capital Group amounted to PLN 63.9 million, i.e. over 10 percent more than in the corresponding period of the previous year. On the other hand, net profit amounted to approx. PLN 32.3 million, i.e. approx. 8 percent more than in Q1 of the previous year.

Apart from toll collection revenue, the results generated in Q1 2022 were also affected by:

  • higher own costs of sales (PLN 38.2 million - Q1 2022, approx. PLN 27 million in Q1 2021), which include higher costs of establishing provisions for resurfacing (PLN 10.5 million),
  • higher net financial expenses than in Q1 2021 (more than PLN 2 million in Q1 2022, PLN 269 thous. in Q1 2021).

The Stalexport Autostrady Capital Group continues to be oriented towards the development of automatic payment methods - videotolling (which at present is linked to four applications: Autopay, SkyCash, IKO, mPay) as well as A4Go and Telepass electronic toll collection. These payment methods are the fastest and most convenient, and for passenger car drivers - 25% cheaper. The share of automatic payments in total toll transactions already represents approx. 40% and keeps steadily growing
